I am trying to install my new garadget device. Seems like the relay stays closed. Is there anyway to make it a momentary contact. My opener is an old Sears opener with a push button switch.

Sounds like your relay might have been overloaded either by incorrect connection or old opener sending too much current through the button. Please see this post for additional information and solution.
